Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that associate Marcus Nelson was recognized as a 2025 Black History Month Honoree by the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA). Each February, the organization selects and honors “outstanding individuals for their contributions to the legal community.”

Current and past honorees include judges, bar association presidents, practice group leaders and seasoned law firm attorneys, and attorney-activists, many with extensive pro bono and community service achievements.

An associate on Hunton’s commercial litigation team, Nelson focuses his practice primarily on complex commercial litigation, class actions, climate change litigation, data privacy, and unfair business laws in California state and federal court. He has experience in preparing pleadings and motions as well as managing discovery. Nelson is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and prior to beginning his legal career, served for more than nine years as a multifunctional logistics officer in the US Army.

Nelson is a member of the LACBA and the John M. Langston Bar Association. A staunch advocate for service, he is a board member and treasurer of the West Point Society of Los Angeles, and serves as a Lawyer-Mentor for first-year law students in the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity Law School Mentoring Program. Nelson also serves as a Champion for Los Angeles youth in the Rites of Passage Program at Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, CA.

Profiles for all 2025 Black History Month Honorees, including Nelson, can be viewed on the LACBA website.
