IJGlobal Awards 2024 Recognize Hunton as Advisor on APAC Renewable Deal of the Year
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to share that a deal for which the firm served as advisor was recently recognized as Renewable Deal of the Year – Solar, APAC at the IJGlobal Awards 2024, an annual event that celebrates the most innovative energy and infrastructure deals around the world, and those behind them.
The firm was recognized for its role as counsel to International Finance Corporation (IFC) and to the Government of Uzbekistan on a combined utility-scale solar and battery storage project in Uzbekistan. The project, which consists of a 250MWac solar photovoltaic plant with a 63MW/126MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated interconnection facilities, is the first-of-its-kind renewable energy project co-located with battery storage in Central Asia. The combined solar and battery storage components will reinforce Uzbekistan’s energy market structure and improve resilience through the diversification of their electricity generation mix. It included a first-of-its-kind guarantee package issued by the World Bank in connection with a combined solar and co-located battery storage project.
The transaction team was led by partner William L. Newton and associate Sevren R. Gourley, with additional support from partner Benjamin Y. Cooper IV.
