Hunton Advises Underwriters on Alabama Power Company’s $500 Million Senior Notes Offering
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advised the underwriters on an SEC-registered offering by Alabama Power Company (“Alabama Power”) of $500 million aggregate principal amount of Series 2025A 5.10% Senior Notes due April 2, 2035 (the “Series 2025A Senior Notes”). The net proceeds of the Series 2025A Senior Notes will be used to repay all or a portion of the $250 million aggregate principal amount of Alabama Power’s Series 2015B 2.800% Senior Notes due April 1, 2025. Any remaining net proceeds will be used for other general corporate purposes, including the Alabama Power’s continuous construction program.
Alabama Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. Alabama Power is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Alabama at retail in approximately 400 cities and towns (including Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Mobile, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa), as well as in rural areas and at wholesale.
